First Post and Lots of updates

Well, i thought i would try my hand at this blogging deal, especially since we have so much going on right now. Wow, it has been a an eventful year  so far. As most of you know we finished the construction of our new home in March, but boy was that ever a stressful event. In Feb we found out we were going to be blessed with another beautiful gift from God, we were so elated to add to our family, we love being parents more than life itself , and were so thankful for another opportunity from God.

In April God decided he needed our precious little angel, and he/she went home. It was so heartbreaking and we felt helpless, but were very thankful the little boy that lays back in the John Deere green you to go to bed every night. We truly believe that God is in control and if he thought it was right, he would bless us again.

With that , we found out early July that we would be expecting yet another blessing from God in March, and we are elated. I have went through this past 16 weeks being nervous every day, i trust the Lord and he does have plans for us, but i have just been nervous about making sure this little one gets here to share this beautiful world with us.

The pregnancy has gone great , except lots of sickness... wheeww never had any of that with Brody and boy was i in for it, but that went away at about 12 weeks and i now feel great.

On September 12, 2010 we got a call from our doctors stating that i had the K antibody show up in my bloodwork, i immediatly paniced and looked up everything i could on the internet... not a good thing to do as they mostly post worst case scenarios there. My doctor did not seem to worried at that point and stated that it was probably from the blood transfusion i had with Brody( 4 units , twice) , but to be catious they would have Brent tested for the K Antigen to make sure that i did not develop the K antibody through my pregnancy with Brody .

Background on Kell Antibody/Kell Antigen : It is an antighen that lives on the red blood cells. We all have antigens, but only 10% of the population have this particular Antigen. If i have the antibody and the baby has the antigen, then there is a possiblity that by antibodies with attack and destroy the babies red blood cells.

Brent was tested and on the 17th the nurse called and said he was negative.... wheeww the doctor was right . We still had hesitation but were  told we would have more frequent monitoring of the baby than normal but felt relieved.

Fast forward to Monday September 27th, 8:30 am , i get a call from Dr. Penmans nurse, stating they got my Titer levels back ( this is a measurement by number of how high the antibodies are in my system) and he wanted  us to go to Indy ASAP to meet with Dr. Sumners the Perionatologist. Of course we were completly shocked , i thought things were fine.

To make a long story shourt, my titers levels are very high 1:32 , Dr Sumners believes that there is a very strong chance that Brent does carry the Antigen and so does the baby. We were floored , but as all parents do , put on our battle gear, prayed to God and began what may be one of the hardest things we ever do.

The baby  BOY is very healthy and we have been told that if this is the case, it is a viable pregnancy. The results of the antiboeis attacking the atigens are that he becomes intolerant and anemic ,  but the beauty of science is that they will do blood trasfusions on him untl we can get him to the point on being able to exisit out side the womb. Of course other risk exisit, but we know God will guide us through this

We are so excited the lord has blessed us again and know that he will take care of this sweet little baby boy. We are still holding out hope that when we go for our aminio on October 14th that the baby is negative , but if not the Lord with handle with .

In the meantime, our baby boy is very very healthy and we are so excited to be blessed with another baby boy, God is Great and works miracles. We will keep you updated and ask for your prayers as we go through this period of uncertainty. Love to you all and God bless all of our children

We had Brent tested

  2. Bless your heart! We had a miscarriage before Kendal and before Hannah. I am glad you are learning all the whys and hows. It does sound scary, but at least you know what you are dealing with and have doctors who are helping you along the way. Sending prayers your way. Glad you are blogging. It's a great way to reach out to others, and I think it is kind of therapeutic too.
Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out!

Not sure if you know I am blogging too, but I am at www.walkingtheoff-beatenpath.blogspot.com
